Bus Management and Information System

In 2014, EACOMM Corporation developed an open source bus management information system for the Department of Transportation and Communications in cooperation with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Advanced Science and Technology Institute of the Department of Science and Technology. The DOTC Bus Management Information System (BMIS) is envisioned to become a comprehensive Information Technology solution to address the need to manage, monitor and improve the services provided by public utility buses (PUB) not only in Metro Manila, but the rest of the country.

The system consisted of a Bus registration system that integrates with LTFRB’s franchise database, a Bus Management System that tracks buses using GPS-GSM devices and provides data analytics on bus behavior, and a Bus Information System which broadcasts bus location and estimated arrival times to various platforms such as digital signages and mobile apps.
